Tenure-Track Faculty in Fashion Design | Columbia College | Chicago, IL The Department of Art+ Design Columbia College Chicago is seeking applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Fashion Design beginning August 16, 2007. Requirements includea Master's degree (MFA or MA) in Fashion Design with a focus on fashion and/or costume with full-time college-level teaching experience or notable professional distinction in the field. Experience in construction and design at both beginning and advanced levels and knowledge of fashion and art history, contemporary theory are highly desirable. Responsibilities include: teaching 3 courses per semester, advising students, and participating in curriculum development and committee service at the department and college level. The applicant is expected to continue active research and professional development in his/her preferred field. A competitive candidate should demonstrate expertise in the fashion design process as well as the sociological, psychological, and historical aspects of the field. They should have some clothing production and merchandising experience, with a focus on theory and emphasis on artistic and creative experiences. We are looking for an accomplished artist who can support the building of a technologically advanced major in collaboration with our concentrations in Fine Arts, Graphic Design, Illustration, Advertising Art, Interior Architecture/Architectural Studies, Art History and Product Design. Columbia College Chicago is a vibrant arts and communications college in a liberal education setting and has over 11,500 undergraduate and graduate students. The Art + Design Department has approximately 1600 majors, 30 full time faculty, over 200 adjunct faculty, and 30 staff. The Art + Design Department offers a B.F.A. in Interior Architecture, Fashion Design, Product Design, Fine Art, Illustration, Advertising Art and a B.A. in Art + Design and Art History.
